Capital Area Michigan Works! continues to stand alongside our community’s youth and families—this time by showing up for New American students and their families at Okemos High School.

In a meaningful collaboration, New American Navigator Mohibullah and T3 Education Officer Amirika joined forces to support families during meetings arranged by school advisors. Their goal? To ensure every student and parent feels confident and informed about the educational pathways available to them.

Amirika shared a wealth of information about Capital Area Michigan Works! programs and services, helping families understand how they can access tools, training, and resources that guide students toward success. Meanwhile, Mohibullah offered ESL course options for parents, helping bridge the language gap and providing much-needed clarity on what their children are experiencing in the classroom.

Beyond language support, Mohibullah shared personal stories and cultural insights that helped ease anxieties about navigating new systems. His approach created a welcoming space for families to ask questions, seek help, and feel empowered in their educational journey.

This effort was a beautiful example of collaboration and compassion in action. CAMW is proud to celebrate this kind of partnership that brings together community, culture, and opportunity to support New American families.

Wonderful teamwork, and a powerful reminder that when we work together, everyone moves forward.
